The Train Journey

Time was passing by. After completing her 12th standard, Tulsi started cherishing endless dreams. Passing 12th standard in a small village was not easy. She made a name for herself in the society.Though she grew up in a family full of struggles, she never let herself feel it.
By working hard, she not only made her name famous, but also made her village and family famous. Now the time had come. When she had to go out of the house and away from her family to continue her further studies.
This was the first experience of Tulsi’s life, that she was going to sit in a train. Before this, neither had she ever gone to the city, nor had she lived the experience. As soon as Tulsi came to know that she was going to sit in a train for the first time.
Her happiness knew no bounds, before today Tulsi had only heard about the train from her friends. On the other hand, Tulsi’s mother and father were very sad thinking how she would live in an unknown place.
Today the day came when she had to leave, the mother bids farewell to Tulsi from the house with a heavy heart. But it was necessary to send her, because her future had to be built. Tulsi takes her mother’s blessings and leaves with her father.
She did not realize how the 3 kilometer walk after leaving the house passed by. Tulsi was thinking in her mind, how many people must be running such a big train and how would they sit on the iron chair, how does the train run so fast on such a small track.
Today it seemed as if she was going to get answers to all her questions. Tulsi travelled the distance of 25 kilometers with her father in a broken down and wobbly bus, but today it seemed as if that old bus was new.
She just had to reach the train as soon as possible. When the bus was passing through the forest, Tulsi felt the cool breeze coming from the forest, as if she had got a new feeling of happiness.
The bus was about to enter the city in a short while, now Tulsi’s happiness seemed to be touching the seven skies, she was elated in her heart.
As soon as the bus entered the city, she was amazed to see big destinations, new things, big fruit shops.
The things which she used to see in books, she was seeing live with her own eyes today.
For a moment she could not believe it, but the very next moment that time had also come, when the co-driver of the bus said in a loud voice. … Station. .. Station, As if Tulsi had suddenly woken up from her sleep.
Her father put a cloth bag on his shoulder and asked Tulsi to get down. As soon as Tulsi got down from the bus, the sound of horns of many vehicles could be heard under the open sky. It seemed as if today she had left the peaceful village environment forever. Babuji started walking ahead. Tulsi also started walking along with Babuji.

On reaching the station, Babuji bought a train ticket and sat down to wait for the train. Tulsi started staring at the big trains passing by. As if it was a dream. Tulsi’s Babuji brought pakodas from a nearby shop, which Tulsi liked very much, in a paper envelope.

After waiting for a while, the train arrived. Now it seemed as if she was getting a little nervous. Babuji took Tulsi out of the crowd and made her board the train. Now Tulsi became completely numb. She had never seen such a sight before. Everything seemed different. Babuji arranged a seat in the crowded coach with a lot of effort. As soon as Tulsi found a seat to sit, it was as if her stalled thoughts gained momentum again and she again got lost in the world of dreams.
The view outside the train was looking very beautiful. Suddenly, there was a jolt in the train, as if the train was about to leave. Now everyone was seated in their seats. After a long horn, the train started moving. Tulsi did not know in which direction the train was going. As the train was moving ahead, Tulsi started feeling the distance from her mother. As if a part of her life was slipping away from her. Tulsi had a good first train journey in her life.
